Frequently Asked Questions.

  • With the benefits of technology I have worked with families all over the world on Zoom and find it very effective.

My cooperative care training services are all virtual because my presence changes how your dog will behave and may not reflect what the process looks like when you are trying to provide care for your dog alone.

For my other training services we will decide together during the Discovery Call what combination of virtual and in-person training will be right for your training goals.

For in-person training I am located in Park Slope and I travel to most Brooklyn neighborhoods around me. I also have limited availability to travel to Long Island City.

  • I accept the three main forms of digital payment: Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal.

For in-person follow-up sessions that are not part of a package I do accept cash and checks at the end of the session.

I ask for all payments at the end of the session or for packages the full amount after the first session of the package.

  • You can fill out this form to contact me and schedule your FREE 15 minute Discovery Call. After I receive the form, I will email you to confirm a date and time for the phone call. Please provide a phone number on the form that I can use to call you for the Discovery Call.

  • At the end of your Discovery Call we will schedule your initial consultation.

If you are not ready to move forward at the end of your Discovery Call then you can email me when you are ready to schedule the initial consultation.

After the initial consultation, you can decide if you’d like to opt into a package for future sessions or proceed with individual sessions.

You can opt into a package at any point moving forward but previous sessions cannot retroactively be counted towards a package.

  • I have a cancellation policy for a couple of reasons.

When someone cancels a spot at the last minute it is less likely that I am able to book someone else into that time slot. You booked your session in advance and I held it for you while others may have wanted that time slot, too.

Cancellation is required 48 hours before a scheduled virtual appointment. If I am traveling to your home, cancellation is required 72 hours before our appointment. A fee, up to the cost of one session, may be incurred if canceling after those deadlines.

At the discretion of the trainer exceptions may be made in the case of emergencies such as illness or inclement weather.

*The trainer reserves the right to change an appointment to a virtual session in the event of mild illness, weather, or other issues that might impact your training success.

  • For the initial consultation I will email you two forms, one of them being a behavior history form. I will need both forms sent back to me at least 48 hours before the consultation. If I do not receive the forms I will reschedule or cancel our session.

For most sessions all you will need are yourselves, your dog, and treats!

If I need you to prepare anything special or specific I will let you know in advance of our session.

  • First we connect over the phone for your FREE 15 minute Discovery Phone Call.

After that the initial consultation may be in-person or virtual depending on which training service matches your training needs best.

For virtual sessions I will send you a Zoom link for each session.

For in-person sessions I will travel to your home. Depending on your training goals we may decide to meet up at special locations.

  • Anyone who is going to be living and working with the dog is encouraged to attend training sessions. I love to work with your whole family, roommates, walkers, sitters, and anyone else who is a part of your dog’s life on a regular basis.

If we are working on specific behaviors that need us to limit attendance we can decide that on a case by case basis.

The sessions can contain a lot of talking and training theory. Some children may be bored by it, which can make it more challenging for the adults to learn the information they need. If your children want to skip the sessions or join us when things get more active, that’s fine with me.

  • There is a service called day training where a trainer will come in and work with your dog one on one. This is a service I do not provide at this time.

Day training can be a great way to provide extra stability and consistency for your dog, however it doesn’t replace the training you do with your dog. At the end of the day the trainer gets to go home and you live with your dog 24/7. My goal is to work with you to create a training plan that feels practical and realistic for you to do on your own. This includes giving you tools to help you be able to problem solve on your own if a new obstacle emerges and how to identify factors that may be problematic for your dog.

  • I do not offer board and train services or any other types of care services at this time. I do provide help with finding safe and appropriate care services for your dog. This includes care options like board & train, dog walkers, pet sitters, daycares, veterinarians, groomers, and more.
